Idukki Wildlife Sanctuaries


Situated between the Cheruthoni and Periyar rivers, Idukki is one of the most gorgeous districts in Kerala. Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary is rich in flora and fauna. This wildlife sanctuary is a beautiful lake suitable for a romantic boat ride. Periyar Wildlife Forest

The Periyar forests of the south are one of the richest wildlife sanctuaries in India. Spread across the district, this area includes attractive spice gardens and stunning hill towns. There are more flowering plants since 1965, including around 171 grass species and 143 species of orchids. These include the Asian elephant, the Bengal tiger, the Indian wild buffalo, the sambar deer, the Indian wild dog, the leopard, the barking deer, and the smooth-skinned otter that can be seen on a boat trip on Periyar Lake.
